Whole-home standby generators, ready before the next outage.

Automatic backup power for your home across Skokie and the North Shore, sized, installed, and permitted by a licensed local electrician.

Whole-home standby generator installed beside a North Shore home by Peak Property Electric

When a storm rolls through the North Shore and the power goes out, a whole-home standby generator is the difference between a minor inconvenience and a freezer full of spoiled food, a flooded basement, and a freezing house. Peak Property Electric installs automatic standby generators that switch on by themselves within seconds of an outage, no cords, no gas cans, no fuss.

The lights flicker, then stay on. A standby generator does the rest automatically.

What a standby generator install includes

Runs on its own, even when you're away

A standby generator monitors your power around the clock. When it detects an outage it starts automatically, transfers your home over, and switches back when utility power returns, whether you're home or on vacation. It also runs a brief self-test each week so you know it's ready.

Sizing it right matters

Too small and it can't carry your furnace, sump pump, and fridge at once. Too big and you overpay. We size it to your home and the circuits you care about, and we can pair it with a panel upgrade when your existing service needs it.

Professionally installed, permitted, and inspected

We focus on doing the installation right: the correct pad, a properly sized automatic transfer switch, clean gas and electrical connections, the permit pulled, and a full walkthrough so you know exactly how your new generator works. We handle new installations, we don't offer separate maintenance or service contracts.

Serving homeowners across the North Shore

We install standby generators throughout Skokie, Evanston, Wilmette, Glenview, Northbrook, Deerfield, Highland Park, and nearby communities, plus Chicago neighborhoods including The Loop, South Loop, Gold Coast, Streeterville, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, Logan Square, River North, Lakeview.

Questions

What homeowners ask us

How big a generator do I need for my house?
It depends on what you want to run during an outage. Some homeowners want the essentials (furnace, sump pump, fridge, a few circuits); others want the whole house. We do a load assessment and size it right, so you neither run short nor overpay.
Does a standby generator turn on automatically?
Yes. A standby generator with an automatic transfer switch senses the outage, starts on its own within seconds, and switches back when utility power returns, whether or not you're home.
Natural gas or propane?
Both work. Most North Shore homes use natural gas so there's no tank to refill. If you don't have gas service we can set it up for propane. We coordinate the fuel line as part of the job.
Which brands of standby generator do you install?
We install the major standby brands, including Generac and Kohler. Already have a unit picked out? We'll install it. Not sure yet? We'll help you choose the right size and model for your home. We handle installation only, not separate maintenance contracts.
