What a proper EV charger install includes
A charger on the wall is the easy part. Done right, the job also covers everything behind it:
- Load calculation to confirm your panel can support a 240V, 40 to 60A circuit
- A dedicated circuit and breaker sized for your specific charger
- Clean conduit and wire routing from the panel to the garage or driveway
- Hardwired or NEMA 14-50 outlet installation, whichever your charger needs
- Permit pulled and the work inspected, so it's safe and it's legal
Do you need a panel upgrade first?
Sometimes. If your home still has a 100-amp panel or it's already full, adding a 48-amp charging circuit may push it past capacity. We'll tell you honestly whether your existing service is enough or whether an upgrade makes sense, and if it does, we do that work too. See our panel upgrade page.
