EV Charger Installation in Skokie & the North Shore

We install Level 2 chargers in garages and on driveways across Skokie and the North Shore. Johnny checks your panel first, so there are no surprises after the charger goes up.

Level 2 Tesla EV charger installed in a garage by Peak Property Electric

Buying the EV is the easy part. Getting a fast, safe charge at home takes a little more thought, especially in a house built decades before anyone dreamed of plugging in a car.

We're a small family crew out of Skokie, licensed and insured (IL license #SE8133), and we've put in Tesla Wall Connectors and universal Level 2 chargers around the North Shore. Before we run a wire, we do a load calculation and take a hard look at your panel. Plenty of homes here still have old fuse boxes or Federal Pacific panels that can't safely carry a 50-amp circuit. Better to know that before the charger arrives, not after.

Call Johnny at (773) 987-7677 for a free estimate. We'll tell you straight what your house can handle.

Ready for a Home Charger? Here's When to Call

  • Your new EV is trickle-charging off a regular outlet, gaining a few miles a night
  • The Tesla app or your dealer told you to hire a licensed electrician for the Wall Connector
  • Your panel looks full and you're not sure it can take a 40 or 50-amp circuit
  • You park in the driveway and need the charger mounted outside, weatherproofed
  • Your house still runs on a fuse box or an older panel nobody has looked at in years
  • Two EVs, one garage, and you need the circuits sized so both can charge

What's Included

  • Tesla Wall Connector and universal J1772 Level 2 charger installs
  • Load calculation and panel capacity check before any wiring starts
  • A dedicated circuit sized correctly for your charger, typically 40 to 60 amps
  • Garage wall or exterior mounting with weatherproof hardware
  • Panel upgrade options if your current service can't carry the load
  • Permits pulled and the village inspection handled for you
  • Our free photo once-over of your panel and visible wiring, like every visit

While We're There: The Free Panel Check

Every service call includes a quick look at your panel and visible wiring — no charge, no pressure. Most of the hazards we find (Federal Pacific breakers, double-tapped circuits, overheated connections) turn up during a small job like this one. If we see something, we'll show you a photo of it and explain your options. Learn more about our safety inspections and panel upgrades.

How We Work

Charger jobs follow our usual four steps: we talk through what you drive and where you park, hand you a written quote, do the install clean and to code, then show you the charger working before we leave. On EV work, that first conversation matters most. The load calculation decides everything else, from wire size to whether your panel needs help first.

  • 1. Free estimate & safety check — we look at the job, give your panel a free once-over, and quote upfront pricing.
  • 2. Straightforward plan — scope, materials, timeline, and cost in plain English before we start.
  • 3. Professional execution — licensed electricians, clean work, everything to code.
  • 4. Final walkthrough — we test everything, clean up, and walk you through what we did.

What Does It Cost to Install an EV Charger Near Skokie?

Honest answer: your house matters more than the charger. The big factors are the distance from the panel to where the charger hangs, whether that run goes through finished walls or open joists, the amperage your charger draws, and whether your panel has capacity to spare. A short run to a garage wall beside the panel is a very different job than a run across the house to a driveway mount.

Older North Shore homes sometimes need a panel upgrade before a charger makes sense. If yours does, we'll show you photos and explain why. Either way, you get a free written quote before any work starts, with the whole scope spelled out.
